APCALM
(Aisa Pacific Center for Advancement of Leadership & Missions)

Asia Pacific View, April 2001

Out of a need to train men and women to reach the various ethnic groups represented in Asia Pacific came the vision for the Asia Pacific Center for the Advancement of Leadership and Missions (APCALM). This has been a team effort between the Asia Pacific Regional ministries and national leadership. It has incorporated people from a variety of countries who have seen the need for such a ministry.

To date more than two hundred men and women have been equipped to minister in various types of ministry in places ranging from South Africa, Islamic countries, the former Soviet Union and locations through out Asia and the Pacific region.

A part of the vision for APCALM was to have a center that would house this ministry as well as be the focal point for the further development of leaders in the future. Construction for the APCALM building began more than a year ago, and was dedicated on March 31st.

The building has six stories and will provide housing for short-term training of missionaries and leaders throughout the year. It is a complete facility with classrooms, offices, chapel, dining hall, apartments, parking garage, and media center. The additional 50,000 square feet of floor space this building provides has doubled the total ministry capacity of the APTS campus.

A variety of institutes have been planned for coming months that include training to reach Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, and Animists with the Gospel. Training will be provided for media ministry, youth ministries, children, and other focus groups along with the ongoing development of leaders within the region.

Wayne & Judy Cagle have accepted the responsibility of leading this great ministry, and they will be giving several months of their time each year providing oversight to the various institutes. Thus far more than 200 men and women have received training in cross cultural missions to the region, and many more are expected to receive valuable assistance as they prepare for more effective ministry to the unreached of this world. Working together with national leaders and missionaries is the key to fulfilling the Lord's command to go to all people with the message of hope.
